Aloe From Home was conceived as an idea when the Covid-19 Virus decided to tour South Africa in early 2020, and as a creative response to the disruption in the events industry worldwide. Our events function together as a live streaming platform that hosts & broadcasts the scene-shaping & genre-bending musicians who entertain at live music venues across South Africa.

Our dream was to create a hybridised online platform that could facilitate the growth of the South African music industry under the current socio-political constraints by creating a healthy co-operative space for musicians, brands & local businesses to showcase their creative products – all whilst monetising their work and providing exposure to both a loyal local following and an intrigued international audience.

In our first season we proved that our idea was a good one. We remotely produced & multicast a series of around 40 donation-based live performances direct from our artists homes to a local & international audience live on both Facebook & Instagram.

In our second season we proved that our idea was a sustainable one. We moved into The Raptor Room with a bigger crew & event partner Howler and put on a series of 10 ticketed concerts which gave local artists a paying platform to engage with their audiences, and all whilst supporting local charities.

You can view all our shows from Season Two here.

Along the way we’ve executed innovative hybridised event structures such as live streaming an interactive private music performance from Cape Town to a Netcash corporate event in Johannesburg, as well as syndicating a multi-artist festival line-up to Bandsintown’s Twitch account which was viewed more than 300 000 times live and ranked #5 in Pollstar’s Livestream Weekly Charts (10th August 2020). More recently we partnered up with DOPE Drinks Co. for a 1 day online festival of 6 acts, celebrating the incredible Women musicians this City has to offer to end off Womens Month in the right way!

In our third season, we proved that our idea is a regenerative one. We are forever adapting to the current state of the Country.  Which meant we added a limited capacity of real life audience to the shows, while keeping the Online Live Stream element, to reach many more people around the country & the world.

After a crazy year of adapting and learning new skills we achieved:

  • 54 virtual performances from the artists homes
  • 20 virtual & seated events from The Raptor Room

Our mission is to keep this music industry alive, as best we can. Creating safe spaces for musicians and music lovers to be immersed in live music and taken on magical journeys.

season one

From day 1 of the Covid Lockdown, we created a platform for our South African musicians to perform their music and connect with their audiences while the world was waiting to go back to normal.
AloeFromHome offered Live Online performances from the artists home, streamed straight to our audiences in theirs. We thank the artists for welcoming us all into their spaces and continuing to share their light through music, during a very difficult time.

Aloe (NOT JUST) From Home

With lockdown restrictions easing up and life regaining some sort of normalcy, Aloe(Not Just)FromHome was born. Our artists had the opportunity to play for real life people as well as those not yet comfortable with crowds, as we continued our live-streaming production. The shows were intimate and buzzed with the excitment of experiencing live music once again.
